The aim of this recording was to gather raw data for PHENICX research tasks, in particular for source separation and conductor’s gesture recognition research tasks in WP3 and WP4. The repertoire has been selected given the metadata availability and the focus on symphonic music material and Beethoven symphonies.
Beethoven 9th Symphony was played by Orquestra Simfònica del Vallés (OSV) on May 25th 2014, conducted by Rubén Gimeno, and played at the Kursaal theatre in Manresa, Spain. ESMUC took care of the recording. The Symphony is divided into four movements: 1. Allegro ma non troppo, un poco maestoso; 2. Molto vivace; 3. Adagio molto e cantabile; 4. Presto. For the 4th movement, the invited choir was the Cor de Cambra del Palau de la Música and Polifònica de Puig-Reig.
For this concert, we recorded gesture data from the Kinect, audio from 32 channels, and video from a domestic camera. We also recorded, for internal support and testing, the main rehearsal that took place three days before, on May 22nd 2014, in their regular rehearsal space. It is our intention to upload a fully synchronized multimodal dataset to Repovizz from this recording.
